Anna Barber - KVIE Art Auction!
Anna Barber submitted a framed "artist proof" of "Golden Gate Sunset" to station KVIE in Sacramento for their various Art auctions and fund raisers .... the art donations are juried and judges select works that they think will sell, etc .... and select a few for their LIVE, ON AIR ART AUCTION on the local PBS channel .... and Anna's was selected for the ON AIR AUCTION ! The piece will be shown on the air on September 25th between 3:30 and 4:00 pm.

August Plein Air Painting and Ceramic Show at Mistlin Gallery
The Central California Art Association at the Mistlin Gallery is hosting The Valley Sun Catchers and The San Joaquin Potters Guild art show from August 3 to September 4. The Valley Sun Catcher "Plein Air Paintings" reception is Thursday, August 19 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The San Joaquin Pottery Guild "Hands In Clay" reception and Award Ceremony is Saturday, September 4 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mistlin Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4:00 p.m. Mistlin Gallery is at 1015 J Street, Modesto, 529-3369 www.ccartassn.org.
The Valley Sun Catchers (VSC) plein air painting group was formed in September 2000 as part of the Central California Art Association at The Mistlin Gallery in Modesto. Their purpose is to improve the artists' observations of nature while painting in outdoor locations. The group of sixty-five members paints at local sites and takes field trips to the mountains and the coast. Chella, founder of VCS, has been Artist-in-Residence in Yosemite National Park, and other members have exhibited in the Yosemite Renaissance Art Exhibitions and Cal Expo. VCS has sponsored on-location workshops and nine annual plein air group shows.
The San Joaquin Potters Guild is hosting "Hands in Clay 2010, " the second annual show judged by ceramic artist Tony Natsoulas, who is known for large-scale humorous, figurative ceramic sculpture. There will be a workshop demonstration Saturday, September 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Tony Natsoulas "Ceramic Sculpture," Rick Uebner "Throwing Large," and Don Hall "Silk Screen on a Clay Box." Registration and fee at www.sanjoaquinpottersguild.org. CCAA members are $35 before Aug. 1 and $45 after Aug. 1.

The Mistlin Gallery
Third Thurday Art Walk - Artists Night
Members of C.C.A.A. "Come on Down" to the gallery and paint together. This
Thursday, the 20th, will be our first open studio/paint together night from
6:30pm to 8:30pm. It is also the Art Walk night so we may have some visitors
watching us paint. Feel free to bring a snack to share with other members
as we paint. Bring your supplies and something to paint on and we will
provide easels for the evening. Hope to see you there.
2010 Ghost Ranch ARt Workshop & Retreat
Looking for a different type of art workshop? You are invited to Darla Bostick's multi-media art workshop/retreat at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM. Several rooms have been reserved 31 August- 6 Sept (ending Labor Day weekend) for the event which includes digital photography, watercolors/acrylics, pencil, incorporating text and more. There is plenty of opportunity for plein air painting as well as the comfort of a group activity room. For 7 days/6 nights you have permission to simply relax, enjoy and create. Your lodging and daily meals are covered with your registration. The Georgia O'Keeffe Landscape Tour takes you to the very places where she painted from the magnificent scenery offered by the area. Spaces are limited and some participants are already registered. Bring the materials you love to work with (or try something new) and join us!
